Template preferences

You can use Dreamweaver's highlighting preferences to customize the highlight colors for the editable and locked regions of a template. The editable region color appears in the template itself; the locked region color appears in documents that use the template. You can use these colors to help remind yourself (and whoever is using your templates) of the sections that cannot be edited in the document.

To change template highlight colors:

1 Choose Edit > Preferences and select Highlighting.
2 Click the Editable Regions color box and select a highlight color. Do the same for Locked Regions.
3 Click Show to toggle the display of these colors in the Document window.
4 Click OK.

To view highlight colors in the Document window:

Choose View > Invisible Elements.

Highlight colors only appear in the document window when View > Invisible elements is on.
